The Hills Are Alive

Postby Artea on Sat Feb 11, 2012 3:59 am

Hi, I'm Setz. How are you? I'm good. I would like to get myself an adamantoise egg within the next week or so, and not mortgage my first child in the process. It would be p. cool and I would enjoy it very much. It would net me a belt with neat stats for my FFXI character and when people check me in the game they would be like, 'omg'.

Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you and goodnight.

So yeah... Guess you guys haven't been using the old forum too much, but I thought I'd stop by! Got internet again, more time on my hands, etc. Anyway I was gonna share some nostalgia here. Most of my pictures I don't still have anymore, but a few I do.

Three Kings:

Lolcads:

Another good ensemble shot:

And another:

A lot of the pictures I have are stuff like this:

Or this:

Or this: (seriously tho, 354 Blizz 2 vs. 545 Raging Fist!)
Image

Or 877 if you like:
Image

But I've still got a few more of this variety:

Anyway...

I don't have a PS3 or any jazz like that, but I might try to drop by here once in a while if you guys are still on. What are you guys doing these days, anyway?

Yo Mysto. Some good ol' nostalgia there. I remember you had the best screenshot thread at SD, used to have fun looking at it. Unfortunately Deckhand lost the backups for the forums when he stopped paying for the hosting on it, so your thread and all the delicious drama is lost to the sands of time.

I quit XI uh, two years ago I think. I think the only people left after that from our gang were Z, Vode, Setz, Gades and maybe a couple other people. Xabu got married or some shit, Klisk runs a brony convention or something, I'm in school. Don't think anyone plays XI anymore, but except for Klisk I don't really keep in touch with anyone.

Fucking XI man. As much as I try to repress my shitty adolescence playing that game I still sit down and IM Klisk some nights just to say, "Fucking XI man. We have seen some shit, you and me", like playing that game has made me lieutenant fucking Dan. You missed some wild times after you left, like how priff turned out to have a penis, and the musketeers saga, and an additional bunch of very embarrassing shit involving myself that I'm busy repressing as I've said. We also semi-remade RD for a few glorious months, wherein our members made up the elite cores of various other shells doing miscellaneous endgame bullshit. Helped a lot that Dragoon wasn't lol anymore but I rolled up Paladin anyway and was maintanking for our limbus group. We were in the midst of wrecking sky and I'd just gotten a pair of crimson legs when I quit. I figured we'd rendezvous in XIV but that game is shit and will probably always be shit, which kind of makes you realize how XI was shit and then you stop giving a fuck.

Anyway man, we should start up an ex FFXI players support group. Take it easy.

Oh man, some old school shots. Cool to see those.

Anywhoo, same old stuff for me. Work, friends, etc. I play FFXI off and on. More on than off. Just came back the other month. Currently working on a Ragnarok (Relic Greatsword), about 1/3 of the way through. Pretty sure Setz's account is still active even though I haven't seen him on lately. Zeno still plays as well. Speaking of Z, I saw him a few times this past year and it was fun.

So, what's shaking with you?

EDIT:

hi2u Cads.

It's funny you mention Klisk's Brony convention dealio, Setz pointed out an article he read that mentioned bronies and Klisk Midori and was like, wtf man.

Cads! Did the Force draw you back here? Hah! Glad to see you're still around, and in school! For what? Engineering? Canadian engineering? I think they call that "moose-buffing". Or that could have been referring to something else...

Anyway, I've been doing the bike thing again (bicycles, not fartcycles) for the past several years. I'm living again in Charleston, which has been steady in its practice of getting shittier every day. It may be a nice place to visit (according to magazines), but it's one of those places that magically combines a high cost of living with shitty pay. And if you've got the money to afford the high life, Charleston will probably just bore you. Like Bill Murray (who lives here most of the year). He just spends all his time on his boat with floozies. Seriously.

Haven't been playing much of anything, other that going back and playing some classics. I really haven't had time the past few years anyway. Living with roommates again was part of it (though not for Manilla, who WoW'd himself into another year or so of college while living below me), and I spent a little more time with bikes and music and stuff I guess.

But man... some days I really wish I could just log back in and do some peaceful BSTing once in a while.

Anyway, grats2u on all your shit, Vode. You really beat AV? Oh, AV's the new Genbu? You don't say...

By the way, wtf is up with Bronies? Are they for real? And if so, how is that only a "thing" now? Because I definitely can tell you who the bronies were 22 years ago. Or do they bang them? And if so, does that mean my friends banged them, too?

But I can see Klisk... Fo sho.

Mathematics. In Canada they call it "beaver calculus".

I've been at that for a couple of years, living in Ottawa. It's, you know, math. Most of my math friends are too ambitious and scared half to death of failing to do anything but school so I only have philosophy and psych majors to drink with and fuck. My current girlfriend of a year has a degree in greek and roman studies. We have absolutely nothing in common.

About bronies, I dunno man. Internet a bit harder and you'll happen across them. I don't think Klisk is a brony at any rate, but he does take their dollars. I'm sure he doesn't want me telling you about it.

I haven't watched 60 Minutes in a while... Poor Morley Safer! His face is just melting into a puddle around his collar. I keep waiting for his skull to begin to poke out the top. It's like he interviewed the Ark of the Covenant or something.

Math majors do things besides sitting in a room talking about shit like homomorphisms of closed group ideals and their congruence to n-manifold topological spaces?

what is up, Cadsooaine.

Those photos are some pretty awesome nostalgia. I have some on this computer, but they are crappy PS2 pics.

I think we all died on this.

edit: I have to find my pre-2007 pics. I lost some from the HD crash, but most should be backed up somewhere.

Yeah! We play cards, mostly. Then someone starts talking about analytic number theory and jokes "and then we take the product of ALL THE PRIMES, FOREVER, and we get this riemann zeta function thing! Sounds legit." "No that sounds like Riemann just making shit up."

It was funny at the time.
